In 2025, the Centre Pompidou, a symbol of contemporary artistic creation in Paris, will close its doors to embark on an ambitious transformation. This renovation of the museum aims to breathe new life into the utopia that was the foundation of the place, while meeting the challenges of the 21st century: sustainability, accessibility and inclusion.

A major renovation for Paris’s iconic museum
Since it opened in 1977, the Centre Pompidou has never ceased to amaze with its bold architecture and avant-garde programming. When it closes its doors in autumn 2025, the Centre Pompidou will embark on a major renovation project, orchestrated by the AIA, Moreau-Kusunoki and Frida Escobedo agencies.
This metamorphosis of the Centre Pompidou aims to :
- improved environmental performance
- a redistribution of spaces
- a new presentation of the permanent collection
- greater accessibility for all.
The objective is clear: to reopen in 2030 a Centre Pompidou that is more open, more vibrant and more committed.
Constellation Pompidou: a museum on the move
During this period of renovation, the Centre Pompidou will not fade into the background. Quite the opposite, in fact. Thanks to the Constellation Pompidou programme, the institution is spreading its wings in France and abroad with a rich and nomadic programme.
Constellation highlights :
– Exhibitions in Lille, Metz, Shanghai, Málaga, Monaco…
– Events for young audiences, festivals and live performances,
– Relocation of the Bpi to the 12th arrondissement of Paris,
– Creation of a new site in Massy (Essonne) in 2026: la fabrique de l’art, a centre dedicated to conservation, mediation and contemporary creation.
This constellation of initiatives ensures that art remains close to the public, even in the absence of the iconic Beaubourg building.
These high points allow us to say goodbye – temporarily – to a place that is dear to the hearts of Parisians and art lovers the world over.
A renewed vision of art and the museum
The transformation of the Centre Pompidou is more than just an architectural project. It embodies a new way of thinking about culture: more mobile, closer and more sustainable.
Until 2030, art will continue to exist outside the walls, in a dynamic of sharing and continuous creation.
