Michèle Laure Adamo: Painting What Connects Us

michele laure adamo

As part of Art Riviera Tour 2026, held in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and organised by Wendy Lauwers and Multi Art Gallery, ART MAG highlights Michèle Laure Adamo, an artist who transforms memories, emotions, and life’s essential questions into images open to interpretation. Each of her works begins with a lived experience, a personal reflection, or a memory seeking its visual form.

When Painting Becomes a Universal Language

Some artworks tell a story.

Michèle Laure Adamo’s paintings suggest many.

Rather than imposing a single interpretation, she creates images in which every viewer can recognise an emotion, a memory, or a question of their own.

Whether exploring the passage of time, family memories, contemporary concerns, or historical figures, her paintings never provide definitive answers. Instead, they open a dialogue between the artwork and the viewer.

Creative Freedom in the Service of Emotion

Oil painting, collage, digital creation, or mixed media—Michèle Laure Adamo refuses to be confined to a single artistic technique.

Each subject calls for its own visual language.

This technical freedom is never pursued for its own sake. Instead, it serves the meaning of the work, allowing the artist to explore different ways of expressing emotion and reflection.

Across her various series, materials and compositions evolve, yet one constant remains: giving a sensitive visual form to the human experience.

Memory as a Creative Territory

The past occupies a central place in Michèle Laure Adamo’s work.

Not as nostalgia, but as a living material.

In Variations of Time, inspired by the story of her parents, human figures appear as fragile presences carried along by the passing years. Metallic elements, fragments, and layered compositions evoke both the transmission and transformation of memory.

Yet the work goes beyond personal history. It invites viewers to reflect on what remains when time continues its relentless course.

Between Contemporary Concerns and Symbolic Figures

From one series to another, Michèle Laure Adamo continually broadens her perspective.

In Climate, she explores environmental concerns without resorting to illustration. Contrasting colours, written words, and human silhouettes create an atmosphere where uncertainty becomes almost tangible.

In Cleopatra Waves, she revisits one of history’s most iconic figures. Far from a traditional portrait, Cleopatra becomes a symbol of memory, identity, and representation, connecting cultural heritage with contemporary artistic creation.

A Painting That Leaves Space for the Viewer

What unites Michèle Laure Adamo’s work is neither a single style nor a recurring subject.

It is her understanding of painting as a place of encounter.

Her works do not seek to convince. They invite each viewer to build a personal interpretation, rediscovering within the image an intimate emotion or reflection.

This ability to connect individual experience with universal themes gives her work a particular resonance and reminds us that art remains a powerful space for dialogue and shared understanding.
